A landmark TV series is currently being recorded by Britain's BBC in the Flemish coast resort of Nieuwpoort. Adapted for TV by Sir Tom Stoppard, the production of Parade's End will be broadcast across the globe next year.
The series is based on Ford Madox Ford's masterpiece, Parade’s End, a quartet of books about the desperation of the aristocracy at the time of the Great War and involves a love triangle between a conservative English aristocrat, his mean socialite wife and a young suffragette.
The books have been adapted into a five part TV series by the highly acclaimed British playwright Sir Tom Stoppard and is being directed by Bafta-winning Susanna White.
The BBC has decided to shoot the series in the old-time art-nouveau ambience of the Villa Hurlebise in the seaside resort of Nieuwpoort rather than build a costly studio set. The programme’s Oscar winning producer David Parfitt was impressed by the period detail of the old Art Nouveau house and its architectural features.
