For its ninth edition, Balkan Trafik! is putting on a series of concerts, dance performances, debates, workshops and films from South East Europe and beyond. Just like every year, the festival covers a range of styles, from traditional to the DJ set, by way of jazz, blues, VJing, and not forgetting the boisterous brass bands. Goran Bregović is the guest of honour for this edition. We have dedicated an entire evening to him and this will be the perfect opportunity to place his creativity in the spotlight.
This edition will also provide its share of innovations, including the Balkan Kafé in the Horta Hall and a focus on gypsy culture with a workshop, a DJ and VJ collective and various activities and concerts combining dance and music by the Slovakian gypsy ensemble Kesaj Tchavé. For the first time ever, Balkan Trafik!
And the Brussels Short Film Festival will join forces for the opening of the two festivals and the final day of Balkan Trafik. On the Thursday they will together celebrate the Balkans in cinema, dance and music in the Henry le Boeuf Hall. On the Sunday the party will continue outside the walls of Bozar with the national dance company of Albania and the projection of short films.
